How do I search for books and ebooks at the RUC Library?

Answer

The catalog is a listing of the books, eBooks, and other items (like DVDs) the library has for patrons to use. You can access the catalog either by using the search box search on the library homepage (as seen in the screenshot above) or by clicking on the library catalog link on the A-Z Databases list. You can search the catalog in many different ways, including searching by title, author, or subject.

The catalog entry will give you information about which library has the item, whether is it a physical item (such as a print book) or digital (such as an ebook). The entry will also tell you whether or not the item is currently available.

For print books and DVDs, the catalog will also tell you where on the shelves the book can be found using a Library of Congress Classification call number (like R131.C232 2006 in the image below.)

If the item is an eBook, you should see a "View eBook" button. Please note that there may be limitations on the number of people who can use a single eBook at once.

If you would like to limit results to items just on the shelves at the RUC Library, you can select "Radford University Carilion Library" in the "Held By Library" field on the left-hand side of the screen. However, please keep in mind that you can have most items sent from one campus to the other by following the directions here.
