Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a library service that allows users to borrow items that we do not have in our collections. It is a free service for RU faculty, staff, and students: the library absorbs the costs to make sure you get the resources you need. Physical books and DVDs may take longer to receive than online articles or book chapters. You can learn more about how to request books or articles the library doesn't own through our InterLibrary Loan guide, including through most of our databases.

Requesting ILL through SuperSearch

If you are within SuperSearch and search for a book, DVD, or article and the results indicate that we do not have the item in our collections, you may use SuperSearch to make requesting easier:

1. After verifying that RadfordU Libraries does not own the item,on the left under "Group and Refine This Search" change the filter option “Held by Library” from "Radford University" to “Libraries Worldwide."

" "

2. Next, select the hyperlinked title of what you would like to request: if it is a book, try to find for the print version.

" "

3. Next, select “Request through Interlibrary Loan."

" "

4. At the prompt, login to the ILL portal using your SSO/DUO login. The Interlibrary Loan request will be pre-populated with title, author, and more.  If this is your first time using ILL, you will be asked to provide some contact information before accessing the item request screen.

Questions? The InterLibrary Loan office can be reached at ill@radford.edu and at 540-831-6126, or contact Research Services for help finding, evaluating, and citing items.
