McConnell Library’s Information Literacy Centers (ILCs) are primarily used in library instruction.

When the ILCs are not being used for library instruction, they are open to be used as study spaces for students.

  • There must be at least 2 hours between instruction sessions in order to open the ILCs as study spaces
  • The doors to the ILCs must remain open while being used for studying
  • If the door is closed by students during study hours, the students in the room will be asked to relocate.

Information Literacy Center A (ILC A) - Room 350

Information Literacy Center B (ILC B) - Room 380

  • When it is open, ILC B is for group study only and multiple groups may use the room at any given time.
  • If students are looking for a private study space for their group, they can check out the Media:Scape Study Stations on the third floor (which are reservable).

Note: ILC B is McConnell Library’s active learning center. The room contains mobile furniture. To move the tables, you must first unlock the table caster brakes (wheel locks). For safety, re-lock them before use. When finished using ILC B, students should:

  • Log out of computer
  • Turn off projector
  • Turn off Bluetooth keyboard
  • Put wireless mouse back on charger

After 1) library instruction and 2) study spaces, the ILCs are also used in a limited capacity as reservable spaces:

  • The ILCs are booked and managed by the Coordinator of Library Instruction and may be closed at any time at their sole direction.
  • Students are not allowed to reserve the ILCs.
  • Student groups can have their faculty advisor request a reservation.
  • Reservations that are not for librarian led library instruction are not accepted until after week 8 of the fall or spring semesters.
  • Faculty interested in utilizing the room for instruction purposes should contact the Head of Research Services, Alyssa Archer aarcher2@radford.edu.
