In SuperSearch, the library's catalog, physical items will note the location and call number of the material (book, DVD, or other physical item). Make sure you have the full call number - it is the address for where to find the book. Also, make sure the item is AVAILABLE and not currently checked out.

Finding a Call Number

Break the call number into parts: the first part will begin with letters, the next part numbers, the following part more letters. Here is an example:

PR 9387.9 .A3 T5 1959

When you are in the location, look on the sides of the shelves to find the correct range that the call number fits within.

Placing a Hold

Also, you can use the Place Hold button: find this option by selecting the item's title. If the item is available, we will pull it for you and have it at the Front Desk for you to pick up, usually within a few hours.

Get Help

You do not have to find physical items on your own! Stop by the Research Help Desk for help, or the Front Desk if the Research Help Desk is closed.
