We recommend using Firefox as your browser when using this feature. We have seen this problem when using Chrome or Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox.

If you do not have Firefox you can open Notepad and paste the references into Notepad. All formatting including the highlighting will be cleared. Copy the Notepad text and paste it into Word. Note: You will need to restore formatting such as italics once it's pasted into Word.

Alternatively, after pasting the text in Word look for a setting that allows you to clear formatting or match destination formatting. Location and wording for this option varies depending on the version of Word you are using and whether you are using a PC or Mac.

NOTE: EBSCO database references frequently contain errors, EBSCO itself notes users should "make any necessary corrections before using." McConnell Librarians recommend ALWAYS checking your references for errors.
